Hope

Something went wrong,
A rumor happened and you didn’t start it.
As the rumor roars, the sound consumes you.
You trade truth for lies, considering no help.
People try to cut in, but you can’t stop cutting your skin.

“Here I am. You let me in.
This whole thing erupted from your sin.
Do you know who I am?
I am your depression.”

This dark hole becomes your life,
Sucking in any sign of light.
It eats away at who you are
Leaving nothing,
Only scars.

A shriek comes from the midst of your pain.
All you want is someone to break the chain.
You can’t, so who can?
The weight of sorrow is too strong.
All matters of hope are gone.

But wait,
In the distance, there is a light.
A light so radiant, darkness cannot fight.
Though my misery tries to devour and conquer
The radiance will not leave.
It was after me.

Through Christ’s scars, I can be set free.
My arms no longer need to bleed.
Through Christ’s suffering, I can stand.
For now He holds me in His right hand.
