Love from my Heart

There was once a lad in love with a maiden. This maiden was very special to him and made him feel so alive when he was around her. Her eyes were a soft blue and her hair was a shimmer of sunshine. He was truly in love with her.
One day, the lad decided to tell the maiden he loved her. Walking to her home, which wasn’t far, was a beautiful walk. He felt at peace as he went to tell the truth about his love.
The maiden sat on her porch and was thinking about her lover, when she saw the lad.
“Pardon me, maiden, but I have something to tell you.”
            “I am listening, lad.”
“I am in love with you.”
“Oh, this isn’t good for I have a lover.”
“You do?” the lad was shocked, but also felt heart broken. “Are you married?”
“No, we are not married for he hasn’t asked me yet.”
“If I can win your heart before he asks you, will you marry me?”
“Yes,” the maiden gave a laugh.
“What can I do to win your heart?”
“Write me a poem of your love for me.” So the lad went and wrote a poem of his love for the maiden. He made sure he picked the right words to describe his true love for her.
The next day, he brought the poem to the maiden. The maiden read it and smiled.
“This is heart warming, but it shan’t win my heart.”
“What must I do to win your heart?” the lad pleaded.
“Buy me a gift showing me of your love for me.” The lad left. The maiden took the poem he wrote, changed it and gave it to her lover.
The next day, the lad came with a dozen of roses. The roses were both red and white.
“These are beautiful!” the maiden exclaimed, “but they shan’t win my heart.”
“What must I do to win your heart?” the lad got down on one knee.
“Write me a note telling me of your love for me.” The lad left. The maiden took the roses and gave them to her lover.
The next day, the lad returned with the note in his hand. The maiden read it and shed a tear.
“This is moving, but it shan’t win my heart.”
“I don’t understand!” the lad cried. “I’ve done all you asked and made sure I gave them to you!”
“What do you mean, lad?” the maiden smiled to herself.
“The poem I gave you was returned to my house changed and the roses I gave you were returned also!”
“You didn’t understand. You didn’t ask me who my lover was. You showed me through those items that you loved me and I gave them back. I returned the love my lover has given to me. You didn’t have to win my heart; I had already given it to you.”
“I understand and have been a fool. Will you marry me?”
“I surely will, with all the love in my heart.”
